Top End Wedding: Prime Video’s Top End Bub filming to begin in NT in May

It’s been five years since these stars were beamed into our living rooms, and now they’re set to return to the Top End to film a new series.

It’s been five years since we left them in the NT after their iconic Top End Wedding.

But now Lauren and Ned are back in a TV series to provide an update on life as a married couple.

Commissioned by Prime Video, Top End Bub will see Miranda Tapsell reprising her lead role alongside Gwilym Lee as her husband.

The romantic comedy series will consist of eight parts and explore Lauren and Ned moving back to the Top End to raise their recently-orphaned niece.

The show will grapple with the issues of marriage, parenting and refined roles within a culture.

Filming will take place in the NT and Adelaide from May this year.

The series will be created, executive produced and written by Top End Wedding writers Joshua Tyler and Miranda Tapsell, and produced by Goalpost Pictures.

Amazon MGM Studios senior development executive Sarah Christie said the studio was excited to revisit the Top End Wedding characters and story.

“Miranda Tapsell and Joshua Tyler have created a series that speaks straight to the heart, and celebrates the messiness and beauty of family, love, and community,” she said.

“We all love a happy ending, but what happens after happily ever after? We can’t wait for you to find out.”

Mr Taylor said the outback NT would make the perfect backdrop for the next instalment in the characters’ lives.

“It’s been fun to dive back into the world of Top End Wedding, a world that means so much to us and to our audience,” he said.

“A romantic setting full of funny characters who face heartbreaking challenges in heartwarming ways. I am thrilled to be collaborating with such an incredible team.”

Top End Wedding was filmed across Darwin and the Tiwi Islands in 2018, with locals getting to play background extras or small roles.
