With the iconic Greek Glenti about to kick off this weekend, Operation Dolmades has been in full swing with all hands on deck _ including those of the Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro.
The Chief joined members of the Greek community at the Greek Community Hall to help wrap dolmades ahead of the event this weekend at Bicentennial Park on the Esplanade.
Dolmades are small rolls of vine leaves stuffed with a rice-based filling, often including herbs, spices, and sometimes ground meat.
Along with an ice cold Mythos beer they are among the firm favourites at the Glenti.
Revellers at The Glenti are expected to go through more than 3.5 tonnes of souvla, 600 kilograms of dolmades, 2 tonnes of octopus, 800 kilograms of calamari and around 12,000 souvlaki.
Greek Orthodox Community of NA Inc. President Michael Koulianos said the weekend was shaping up to be a ripper.
The Chief Minister urged Territorians to join in the festival spirit and celebrate our city’s rich Greek culture.
GleNTi runs from 11am until 10pm on Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8, and is free to attend.
