Shocking images allegedly taken from an Alice Springs methamphetamine lab are being investigated by Northern Territory police.
As Territory law enforcers try to curb the excessive use of alcohol in the community, there are concerns unregulated drugs like meth are taking hold in the town.
A concerned citizen who contacted this masthead said the price of bootleg alcohol was so high, locals in search of a high were turning to illicit drugs like meth.
Whereas a bottle of Johnny Walker rum can cost up to $700, a ‘point’ of meth can sell for $150 in the Territory.
The same quantity has a street value of $30 in Melbourne.
The pictures obtained by this masthead showed two individuals holding what appear to be a sword and a crossbow apparently running around the exterior of a warehouse in the rural area.
The images were taken about 6.20am on Australia Day
An NT Police spokeswoman said they were aware of the images and were investigating the matter to determine the identity of the alleged offenders.
“Any utilisation of methamphetamine is a concern for police and the insidious harm it causes in the community,” she said.
“The Northern Territory Police Force will continue to target and disrupt supply and distribution chains across the Northern Territory, including in Alice Springs.”
