A young woman will appear in court after allegedly assaulting a baby in a Top End town.
NT Police charged the 20-year-old woman with aggravated assault, choking, strangling and suffocating after receiving reports of the assault at a home about 5.15pm on Thursday.
Police say they found the child in the care of another adult at the time of arrival, as they took the alleged offender into custody.
She was remanded in custody to appear in the Katherine Local Court on Friday.
NT Police said the infant was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for medical treatment.
