Matt Wright will have six weeks to resolve a dispute with the widow of his Netflix co-star Chris Wilson after the parties were sent for “court ordered mediation”.

Danielle Wilson is suing Mr Wright and his company Helibrook along with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority following her husband’s death during an ill-fated crocodile egg collecting expedition in 2022.

Mr Wilson was suspended from a sling underneath a chopper operated by Helibrook and piloted by Sebastian Robinson when he fell to his death near the King River in Arnhem Land.

On Tuesday, Ms Wilson’s lawyer Matthew Kalyk told the Federal Court there had been “discussion among the parties” and she was asking that the case be referred for mediation.

Counsel for CASA, Peter Ward, and for Mr Wright and Helibrook, Darryn Kelly, each indicated the order was not opposed.

“At the moment all indications are that if people attend the mediation in good faith, as they are obliged to do, then it has reasonable prospects of achieving something,” Mr Kelly said.

“If it can finalise the proceedings it seems to be the sensible course.”

The parties will have until June 20 to reach a settlement, with the case then due to return to court on June 27.
