The cars were fast and loud, but that’s just how the thousands who crowded into Hidden Valley for the 2024 Darwin Triple Crown wanted it.
The well-loved event, which doubles as the Australian Supercars Indigenous round, brought racing fans and families from across the country to watch their heroes put the pedal to the metal.
Fans of each team took on the Darwin sun to watch their favourite drivers take on the track, with Territory racer Bryce Fullwood getting plenty of attention from the fans.
Katrina Penfold was in Darwin for her third Supercars event as part of a partnership between Penrite Racing and her Melbourne Indigenous Transition School, which includes the livery design.
This year she had brought her partner Neil Penfold, both from Victoria, along for the ride for his first time up north for the racing, and both were once again loving the vibe.
“We provide boarding for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who come from the NT and remote, and this partnership helps promote Indigenous education,” she said.
“I love the fact that the Darwin round is just really comfortable, everyone has a space to go and enjoy themselves and that’s just fabulous.
“It’s got a really good vibe as well, there’s no stress and there’s plenty to enjoy throughout the day when it comes to racing.”
