The Million Dollar Fish competition will introduce an exciting new twist for the month of February that could see one lucky fisho walk away with an extra $40k.
Throughout February each red-tagged $10k barra will be added to the leader board, with the largest catch of the month securing an extra $40k.
The winner will be announced on March 1, 2025 and if two or more of equal size are caught the prize will be shared equally.
The largest red-tagged barra was 105cm, caught by Kai Hale at Manton Dam on March 11, 2023 during Season 8.
Season 10 kicked off with a bang, setting a record for the competition as 14 red-tagged barramundi were caught.
There remains 83 more red-tagged barra still waiting to be caught, along with 10 $1m tagged fish making this the perfect time to hit the water.
Anglers can take to the water across Arnhem Land, Darwin, Kakadu, Katherine, and the Tiwi Islands this February.
As the official charity partner, Cancer Council NT receives $1000 for every $10,000 tagged fish caught and will receive an extra $4000 from the largest catch.
NT Major Events Company interim chief executive Trevor Cox said the new incentive gave new chances for anglers to win big in February.
“Million Dollar Fish Season 10 began with a record-breaking first month and now the exciting ‘Size Matters’ bonus adds even more thrill for anglers,” he said.
“With new opportunities to win big this February, there’s no better time to grab a rod, sign up, and head out with your mates for the chance to catch the fish of a lifetime.”
The NT Major Events competition runs until March 31 and remains open to anyone aged 18 and over here: milliondollarfish.com.au/register
