International College of Advanced Education celebrate graduation day

The Governor of the Philippine Island of Negros Occidental Eugenio José Lacson has acknowledged the bridges being built between his country and Darwin through students studying at the International College of Advanced Education. SEE THE PHOTOS

The Governor of the Philippine Island of Negros Occidental Eugenio José Lacson has acknowledged the bridges being built between his country and Darwin through students studying at the International College of Advanced Education at Nightcliff.

Governor Lacson was in Darwin to share in the graduation of 10 Philippine government sponsored students at the college.

They were among 85 local and international students who graduated this week at the Nightcliff college campus.

ICAE is in its 27th year in Darwin and is the city’s longest running private college.

It delivers career-based vocational education to more than 200 students locally and from around the globe, in a range of disciplines including hospitality, commercial cookery, baking and business.

Negros Occidental is located in the western side of Negros Island, the fourth largest island in the Philippines.

“Since 2018, the International College of Advanced Education, has not only provided education and training it has also empowered the lives of our scholars, many of who arrived in Australia full of hope and have now grown in knowledge, confidence and dignity,” Governor Lacson said.

“Their work at ICAE proves not only their perseverance while being so far from home and their dedication, but also their courage to leave home and embrace the opportunities here in Darwin with ICAE.

“We take pride in their achievements not just because of their academic success but because of the values they uphold and the bridges that have been built between our cultures.

“The students are living proof of how education can transform lives and how public service when rooted in purpose can shape brighter futures.

“This program her in Darwin continues to open doors of opportunity.”

Owner and CEO at International College of Advanced Education Sean Mahoney said many students would build their lives in the Territory.

“The students come here for a quality education with many are looking to make a life in Darwin, which this city needs,” Mr Mahoney said.

“The students contribute positively, economically, they are domestic consumers and they are also local tourists.

“Equally their cultural values and internationalisation is one of their hallmarks for Darwin.”
