Football Northern Territory chief executive Bruce Stalder has stepped down

A long-term sporting body’s chief executive has stepped down after more than eight years in the role growing the game he loves. Find out what happened.

Football NT’s chief executive Bruce Stalder has stepped down after almost a decade in the prominent position.

Stalder came into the top job in September, 2016, coming off jobs as the Central Coast Mariners chief executive and Brisbane Roar head of operations.

His goals included financial sustainability to build and grow the code toward success in a region so often dominated by AFL.

A statement from the FNT board to clubs and stakeholders said he had stepped down from his role effective as of close business on January 21.

“The FNT Board has accepted his notice, and we are grateful for Mr Stalder’s guidance and leadership during his tenure,” the statement read.

“We would like to acknowledge the significant contributions of Mr Stalder to Football Northern Territory (FNT).

“Mr Stalder has been an integral part of Football NT, leading the organisation with dedication, passion, and vision over his eight and half year tenure.

“His contributions to the growth of football in the Northern Territory have been profound and will leave a lasting legacy.

“We sincerely thank Mr Stalder for his dedicated service and numerous contributions to our great game in the Northern Territory.”

The FNT board will implement interim arrangements in the meantime until the recruitment for a new chief executive is complete.

It follows the recent stepping down of Stuart Kenny as chairman after eight years, with Selina Holtze taking over as interim president until the AGM in May.
