Three male youths aged 13, 13, and 14 were arrested by police in the early hours of the morning yesterday in relation to an alleged dangerous driving incident in Alice Springs.

The operation involved members from Strike Force Viper, the Territory Safety Division, and general duties officers.

Alice Springs police said that at 1:40am, they received a report of two vehicles driving suspiciously in Alice Springs.

Police said one of the vehicles, a grey Subaru Outback, was identified as being reported stolen on June 29.

The second vehicle, a black Holden Commodore, was not reported as stolen.

Both vehicles were sighted by police being driven by youths and when they failed to stop for police a resolution strategy was formulated.

Police said a pursuit of the Holden Commodore took place after it began driving dangerously.

They said the stolen Subaru drove from the area and remains outstanding, along with its unknown occupants.

Police allege the Commodore subsequently clipped a kerb, resulting in damage to the vehicle.

The three teenagers, abandoned the Commodore in Araluen and attempted to flee on foot, but were apprehended and arrested by police.

The two 13-year-olds were later released into the care of responsible adults pending further investigations.

The 14-year-old was charged over the alleged incident.
