A popular Red Centre brewery is looking keep up its winning momentum when it heads south to take on Australia’s biggest brewers in a competition with international significance.

With previous winners such as Stone and Wood, 4 Pines Brewery, and more, Alice Springs Brewing Co will be hoping to add their name to the list when they head to the Melbourne Royal Australian International Beer Awards in May.

Brewery owner Kyle Pearson said the team will be hoping to continue their success after some wins at the Royal Queensland beer awards.

Port Lincoln’s Beer Garden – recently acquired by Alice Springs Brewing Co – was awarded Champion Session Beer at the QLD awards for their EP Crisp.

Mr Pearson said heading to Melbourne to showcase their beers was an important step in getting some valuable feedback.

“Being in Alice, there is little space for comparison with other breweries and little feedback from people within the industry,” he said.

“We face many challenges day to day brewing in Alice, but if we can keep up our quality in line with the best breweries in the country than we have shown you can make world-class beer in the middle of the desert.”

The brewery will be putting the recently released Red Centre dry and Top End crisp up for Judgement, as well as their Almost Summer Ale, the pacific pale ale Specificale, and the Batch #37 pacific ale.

Melbourne Royal Food and Beverage Awards senior manager Kirrily Waldhorn said competitors in the beer awards gain international recognition for their brews by competing.

“As the world’s largest annual beer competition for draught and packaged beer, this competition drives innovation and helps raise the bar for quality across the entire industry,” she said.

“We are thrilled for all entrants to this year’s competition and look forward to celebrating their contributions to the brewing industry.”

Winner of the Melbourne Royal Australian International Beer Awards will be announced May 15 at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
