A Norlane man who spent time behind bars for drug offences faced court again after he was busted with a Viagra pill.
Stan Jovanovic, 38, appeared at the Geelong Magistrates Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to a single charge of possessing a drug of dependence, being a prescriptive drug.
Jovanovic drew police attention when he was caught speeding in North Geelong and was followed into a nearby service station.
Police said Jovanovic appeared to be intoxicated and officers could smell cannabis on him and a female passenger.
Officers searched the vehicle and found a blue tablet they later confirmed to be Viagra in Jovanovic’s wallet.
Jovanovic did not have a prescription for the single pill and said he purchased it from Geelong adult store The Spice on Thompson Rd.
His lawyer said Jovanovic ended up spending one night in custody on remand for the charge and was bailed with strict conditions.
The court also heard Jovanovic was sentenced in December last year to drug offending and had spent time in custody.
Magistrate Simon Guthrie read from character references that described Jovanovic as “respectful and trustworthy”.
“I don’t see that side of him,” Mr Guthrie said.
Mr Guthrie said the maximum penalty could have been a jail term and he hoped Jovanovic would turn himself around.
Jovanovic was convicted and fined $500.
