Australia’s top cricketers, their glamorous WAGs and kids have been lapping up the British summer by rubbing shoulders with celebrities, spending up at London’s high-end shops, dining out in exclusive eateries and touring the city’s popular hotspots.
While the Aussies have a packed training schedule before they take on South Africa in the ICC World Cup Championship at Lord’s in central London from Wednesday, Pat Cummins is among the stars who managed a quick break to catch up with one of the UK’s biggest TV stars, Jeremy Clarkson.
On the weekend the Australian captain made the road trip to the Cotswolds in Oxfordshire to visit the revhead’s famous farm, Diddly Squat, from the hit streaming series Clarkson’s Farm.
Clarkson posted a selfie on Instagram of the pair at his countryside digs and wrote: “Hey Australia, look what I’ve stolen”, to which Cummins replied, “Thanks for having me, what a great morning”, followed fittingly by a tractor emoji.
Cummins’ wife Becky, who recently gave birth to their daughter Edith, also shared images of her long-haul trek to the UK, including one photo showing more than a dozen suitcases being checked in before she boarded her flight to the UK.
She also shared a cute image of the couple’s two young children – their four-month-old daughter and three-year-old son Albie – sitting together in business class.
Usman Khawaja, his wife Rachel, and children Ayla, 3, and Aisha, 4, also took time out from his busy training schedule to sip lattes inside London’s famous luxury department store, Harrods in Knightsbridge, and do shopping along the famous Oxford Street.
It’s understood that while in the UK the Australian cricketers and their families are staying in central London – not too far from Lord’s cricket ground in Marylebone – and they are in close proximity to some of London’s most famous spots littered with high-end dining, boutique shopping and London’s beautiful Regent’s Park.
On the weekend London was hit with plenty of rain but there was enough sunshine to ensure the WAGs and their families could get out and about and enjoy their time in England.
Khawaja’s wife, a Channel 7 cricket reporter, also shared posts soaking some of London’s sunshine, taking a stroll along the River Thames to catch a picture perfect view of the Tower Bridge.
The WAG’s have spent their time zipping around central London like locals and tourists by using the busy underground.
She also stopped off at London’s renowned department store Selfridges to check out many high-end fashion labels and share a cute photo of the cricket team’s youngest support crew and wrote: “Taking on the chaos of London and London tubes, 3 mums, 6 kids and 2 prams”.
In one of Mrs Khawaja’s posts alongside her two children she wrote: “First few days in London, little bit of rain, little bit of sightseeing, lots of tubes, lots of chaos”.
Joining her was Alex Carey’s wife Eloise and their two children Louis and Clementine, and Scott Boland’s wife Daphne, and their daughters, Charli and Andi.
Nathan Lyon’s wife Emma was also seen stepping out to get a caffeine hit with the pair’s daughter 19-month-old August on Marylebone’s exclusive High Street at Granger and Co.
