Six people have been charged with trafficking in firearms and a suite of other offences after a targeted police investigation.

A GROUP of six men and women from the North-West have been charged with a raft of firearms and burglary-related offences after an by the Burnie Criminal Investigation Branch and Western Drug Investigation Service.

A 27-year-old Wynyard woman has been charged with aggravated burglary, burglary, stealing and stealing a firearm/firearm part.

A 32-year-old Boat Harbour woman has been charged with aggravated burglary, burglary,

stealing, stealing a firearm/firearm part and unlawfully trafficking in firearms.

A 27-year-old Boat Harbour man has been charged with aggravated burglary, burglary, stealing and stealing a firearm/firearm part as well as unlawfully trafficking in firearms, conveying a firearm contrary to the prescribed safety requirements, possessing and selling a controlled drug.

A 38-year-old Burnie woman has been charged with unlawfully trafficking in firearms, possession of stolen firearms and conveying a firearm contrary to the prescribed safety requirements.

A 33-year-old Wynyard man has been charged with aggravated burglary, burglary, stealing and stealing a firearm/firearm part as well as unlawfully trafficking in firearms and conveying a firearm contrary to the prescribed safety requirements.

A 27-year-old Upper Burnie man has been charged with unlawfully trafficking in firearms and possession of stolen firearms.

Three members of the group were remanded in custody while two have since been bailed.

All six will appear in the Burnie Magistrates Court on April 6.
