Bindi yesterday announced her engagement to the ‘love of her life’ Chandler Powell on her 21st birthday. But she took to Instagram today to reveal “the most beautiful surprise”.

“Chandler and Robert (Bindi’s brother) worked together to capture the moment I said ‘YES’,” she captioned a series of new proposal photos.

“We were in the gardens of Australia Zoo and it was beyond perfect. I never even knew Robert was there photographing and I’ll always be grateful to have these special memories of the most amazing day of my life.”

It has also emerged Russell Crowe - a family friend of the Irwins - gifted Bindi a $25,000 Rolex watch.

Bindi’s mum Terri told the Sunshine Coast Daily Crowe had explained it was a gift Steve “would have wanted” her to have.

Yesterday, Bindi captioned a photo on Instagram of the couple: “July 24th 2019. On my birthday I said ‘yes’ and ‘forever’ to the love of my life.

“Chandler, close to 6 years ago I fell in love with you and every day since has been a whirlwind of adventure and true happiness.”

Her brother Robert was quick to share his well-wishes on social media.

With her famous family, Bindi has built a career as a conservationist, actor, TV host, dancer, singer, author and face of Australia Zoo and following in the “wildlife warrior” footsteps of her Crocodile Hunter father, the late Steve Irwin.

“I care about the planet and my destiny is to make a difference. We’re doing it our own way, but you can feel Dad’s spirit in everything we do. I’ve found such comfort in being able to follow in his footsteps,” Bindi said in an interview with Stellar.

Yesterday she held an event at Australia Zoo where she cut her birthday cake and welcomed fans to help her celebrate her milestone.
