One of the nation’s most notorious gang rapists, Mohammed Skaf, has landed in court again over a domestic violence order application taken out for the protection of his younger sister, who he lives with.

Skaf, 41, was released from Long Bay Correctional Complex in 2021 having served 21 years for his role in a string of gang rapes around south-west Sydney when he was 17, led by his older brother Bilal.

Bilal will be eligible for parole in 2033.

The brothers, along with about 12 others, captured and brutally assaulted at least six women during their month-long reign of terror in the weeks leading up to the 2000 Olympic Games. The attacks were described by sentencing judge Michael Finnane as “worse than death”.

Upon his release from prison, Skaf had ambitions to get married, have children, and study architecture, but he has instead been plagued by apprehended violence order applications, including one for his protection. The latest was filed against him in March on behalf of his 28-year-old sister, Noora El Skaf.

Skaf did not appear at Bankstown Local Court when the interim order was mentioned on April 30, but court records indicate the magistrate imposed a raft of standard conditions preventing him from assaulting or threatening Noora, or anyone she has a relationship with.

He was also ordered not to damage her property, or harm any animal in her possession.

Records further indicate the siblings live at the same address in Greenacre, which is the family home they share with their Mustapha, mother Baria, and their younger brother Hadi, 26 – who Noora also has an interim domestic AVO against.

The application against Hadi is listed for an hour-long hearing in October, during which he will defend himself.

The latest AVO application against Mohammed Skaf is the second Noora has taken out against him within the last year. The first was lodged last August, but was withdrawn in October.

Along with two of her brothers, she also has an interim order against another man named Ahmed Elskaf.

The matter between Noora and Skaf will return to court on May 21.

None of the men have been charged with any criminal offences.

The first AVO Skaf dealt with after his release from prison was in 2023, when police took an order out for his protection against his ex-girlfriend and convicted drug dealer Alexandra Mastropetros, along with Hicham Ismail who was previously jailed for affray. Both AVOs were upheld in court for two years.

Hadi was an infant and Noora was about three when their older brothers, Bilal and Mohammed, went on a pack rape rampage around south-west Sydney.

One woman was raped 25 times by 14 males in three locations over a six-hour period.
