MOTHER’S Day means more to Cyndy Mombelli when she’s part of the annual Mother's Day Classic.

The event organiser said being touched by the stories of friends and family who had battled breast cancer had inspired her to organise and participate in the fun run for the past six years.

“It’s a national event, but being able to hold it here in Cairns and in other regional centres means we can help raise that extra bit of cash towards finding a cure,” she said.

“Breast cancer affects women and men and learning more about it made me and my husband want to run the event.”

The fun run will be held on the Cairns Esplanade from 7.45am.
