Major update after baby burned with coffee in Brisbane park

The mother of a baby boy burned by hot coffee in an alleged attack at a city park has revealed a major update.

A baby boy who endured multiple surgeries after being scalded by hot coffee in a bizarre alleged daytime attack at a Brisbane park has finally been released from hospital.

Nine-month-old Luka was with his mother and a friend at Hanlon Park on August 27 when he was allegedly attacked by a man who poured a thermos of coffee over him.

After more than a week in hospital and multiple rounds of critical surgeries, the boy’s mother revealed on Wednesday afternoon the infant was home after leaving hospital.

In a social media post, the woman said they had “been home for a few hours and he’s already knocked his head”.

“It’s gonna be a great few months. Back to hospital on Friday and then Monday to start the grafting process.”

A photo included in the post showed Luka smiling widely while in his mother’s arms, with bandages on his arm and chin.

Detectives released images of a man who may be able to assist in their investigation.

Baby Luka’s third surgery was undertaken on Monday, with earlier procedures revealing he would likely suffer scars under his neck and chest due to the serious burns.

The man allegedly behind the attack fled from the park and despite more than a week of searching by police and appeals to the public, is yet to be located by officers.

Last week, police released images of a man they want to speak to. He is described as being between 30-40 years old and dressed a black hat, glasses, a shirt and shorts.
