Anthony Albanese and Peter Dutton faced a grilling from 100 undecided voters in western Sydney in the first debate of the 2025 election campaign on Tuesday night – the Sky News / Daily Telegraph People’s Forum.

It was a feisty but policy-heavy debate that touched on a broad range of issues including health, education, migration, the cost of living and Donald Trump’s trade war.

The audience verdict is now in – 44 thought Mr Albanese was the winner, 35 gave it to Mr Dutton, and 21 said they were still undecided after the hour-long debate. However, readers voting in the poll below had a very different perspective.
