Jackson Warne reveals how he beat a ‘miserable’ life after Shane Warne’s death

The son of cricket legend Shane Warne has revealed how he narrowly avoided a “miserable” life after his father’s shock death.

Jackson Warne has opened up about how he fought being “miserable” and falling into a booze-filled rut as he coped with the shock death of his father.

Jackson, 23, said his year “could’ve easily gone down hill” after cricket legend Shane Warne died suddenly in Thailand on March 4.

“I could’ve drank a lot of alcohol, gambled too much, quit the gym, ate s--t food and not socialise. Be miserable,” he told his 93,000 Instagram followers.

Instead, he said he used the “trauma” he was experiencing as “energy for life”.

“I surrounded myself with good people, went to the gym EVERY DAY, drank water, swam, laughed a lot and was consistent. 1 day at a time,” his post read.

“I can now say because of this I am the happiest and healthiest I’ve been. Health is wealth.

It cost’s $0 to exercise, laugh, drink water and go outside. If you do this I promise you’ll be the happiest and healthiest you can be.”

Jackson revealed he was still being flooded with messages from people checking on him.

“To everyone who is still messaging me and supports me every single day, It doesn’t go unnoticed and I appreciate it. Thankyou,” he said.

Sister Brooke Warne responded to the raw post by telling him: “Love you so proud of you and every day.”

Shane Warne’s death from a heart attack while he was holidaying in Thailand sent shockwaves around the sporting world.

At the time, Jackson led tributes and promised to support and care for his siblings.

“To my brother, my best friend, to my Dad, I love you so much. I don’t think anything is ever going to fill the void you have left in my heart. Sitting at the poker table, walking around the golf course, watching the Saints and eating pizza is never going to be the same.

Jackson said his father was “the best father and mate”.

“But I know all you ever wanted for me is to be happy, no matter what. You just wanted me to be happy, that’s it. So that’s what I’m going to do, try and be happy. I am going to miss you so much Dad and you were truly the best father and mate anyone could’ve asked for. I love you so much Dad, see you soon,” his heartfelt statement said.
