A man who allegedly threatened to slit the throat of a NSW MP and abused her over her stance on the abortion bill has appeared in court after being charged.
Wayne Pound allegedly called Mulgoa state Liberal MP Tanya Davies’ office and threatened her because of her objection to the abortion bill on the grounds of gender selection.
The bill, which would allow abortions based on gender selection, passed through the NSW lower house earlier this month and is currently the subject of an upper house inquiry into the matter.

The 47-year-old man faced a charge of using a phone to menace and harass at Penrith Local Court on Monday.
Police will allege he left a voicemail at Ms Davies electorate office on August 1 at 5pm.
“Listen here you dumb sl*t,” he allegedly said.
“A girl can do whatever she f****** wants with her f****** body.
“You can f*** off. Ring this number again and I’ll slit your throat.”
He was arrested on August 14 at his Kemps Creek address.
Pound didn’t enter a plea as his matter was adjourned to September 2.
Wearing a Parramatta Eels jersey as he returned to his Kemps Creek home, Pound declined to comment about the charges.
“I’ll be right mate,” he said.
Pound was one of two men charged for threatening MPs after Counter Terrorism Minister Anthony Roberts also received a phone call threatening him because of his stance on the abortion bill.
A 58-year-old man was arrested in Hornsby over the threats to the member for Lane Cove.
