Who are the bushfire heroes in your community?

In every NSW community, right now, someone is doing something to help keep firefighters going; to help a neighbour get by after evacuating; to get an injured animal to safety; and, The Daily Telegraph needs your help to find them.

NSW Bushfires: Sydney chokes through ‘lethal’ smoke

Devastating bushfires, a city choking on toxic smoke and a horrific volcano disaster made this week feel like the end of the world.

But behind the scenes, far from the headlines, thousands of people across NSW are performing acts of kindness to help others struggling with disasters, big and small.

As firefighters and volunteers near exhaustion, cases of water, snacks, lozenges, even eyedrops have been magically appearing at local Rural Fire Service brigades.

On community Facebook groups, people in fire-affected regions have been flooded with offers of transportation, accommodation, and safe havens for pets and livestock.

In every NSW community right now, someone is doing something to help someone in need. We need your help to find them.

Local businesses, school students, mums’ groups even bowling clubs are pulling together to support firefighters and struggling families.

It’s time to sing the praises of these quiet heroes.
