Sex traffic victim Virginia Giuffre was excused from attending court when a domestic violence order charge against her was mentioned.
Giuffre, 41, was set to appear before Joondalup Magistrates Court on Wednesday morning, little more than a week after she announced on Instagram that she was involved in a bus crash and only had four days to live.
Her scheduled court appearance was over allegations that she breached a family violence order on February 2.
A media pack awaited her arrival outside court, but Giuffre did not turn up, as she was excused from attending.
Instead, her lawyer Karrie Louden appeared on her behalf and sought an adjournment, telling the court she was negotiating with police.
Outside court, Ms Louden said she could not comment while the matter was before the court, but that she expected Giuffre would likely provide a health update in the near future.
The matter was adjourned to June 11, when Giuffre will be required to enter a plea.
Over the weekend, she broke her silence about her deteriorating health for the first time since claiming was in hospital on her deathbed, as her brother reveals she “almost died” in another incident four months ago.
Giuffre uploaded a worrying photo to social media last week, telling her followers she had been involved in a road crash with a school bus in regional Western Australia and was dying from kidney failure.
This masthead revealed exclusively last week that Ms Giuffre was released from Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
WA Police only had records of a minor road accident on March 24 which caused $2000 worth of damage.
Her her brother Sky Roberts has now claimed his sister was involved in another incident in January. He says that event resulted in a cracked sternum and perforated eye, and almost killed her.
Giuffre issued a statement over the weekend, referencing the January incident.
She told US-based publication, People: “I was able to fight back against Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein who, abused and trafficked me … I can no longer stay silent.
“Again, I thank everyone for their support.”
Mr Roberts and his wife Amanda, who live in the US, told the publication they had spoken with Giuffre on the phone.
He couldn’t confirm whether her ongoing medical issues were the result of the January incident, complications from the crash in March, or a combination of both.
Mr Roberts said: “Let’s be clear, she never stated in the bus accident the cause of all her other injuries. But I do think that the bus crash in some way, shape, or form saved her life. It could have been a blessing in disguise.”
He said the bruising visible in her Instagram photo was consistent with a car crash.
“Nobody ever said her liver issues and kidney failure were ever from that. We still don’t know if it is, I’m not a medical professional. That’s up to her doctor to determine,” he said.
Mr Roberts then lashed out at critics who questioned the legitimacy of her health claims. He said: “Is it going to take her to die for people to believe her? Or can you just simply be a human and look at the facts and understand this is somebody that legitimately got into an accident, legitimately had underlying issues.”
It comes about a week after Ms Giuffre revealed she was on her deathbed in hospital.
“I won’t bore anyone with the details but I think it important to note that when a school bus driver [collides with] you driving 110km as we were slowing for a turn that no matter what your car is made of it might as well be a tin can,” she wrote.
“I’ve gone into kidney renal failure,“ she wrote next to a photo of her lying in a hospital bed, her face covered in bruises.
“They’ve given me four days to live, transferring me to a specialist hospital in urology.”
Prince Andrew denies any wrongdoing.
