AS POLITICIANS descend on Canberra, Scott Morrison is preparing to hand down his first national economic blueprint.
Tuesday’s Budget will make “sensible” changes to personal income taxes to tackle the threat of average earners being forced into higher tax brackets through wage inflation, otherwise known as bracket creep.
Other measures will include extra funding for schools, while overly generous superannuation tax concessions enjoyed by the rich will be reined in and multinational tax dodgers will be further targeted in a move to also cut company tax.
Papua New Guinea also faces losing millions of dollars in aid after its decision to close the Manus Island detention centre.
