A “Guitar Hero” has stopped three alleged thieves outside a discount store in Melbourne, armed with only a fake instrument.
Charges have been pressed against three alleged offenders who police claim robbed the store in Cranbourne, in the city’s south-east, at 11am on Wednesday.
They can be seen in footage wielding a crow bar and what looks like an axe during the incident.
In a brazen scene outside Panda Mart, a discount retailer, an employee and a security guard in a high-vis vest can be seen grappling with one alleged offender.
In a twist, a member of the public walks up to that alleged thief and uses a blue guitar to strike the alleged thief over the knee, the sound of the heavy impact can be heard in the video.
A separate video shows two other men ramming back in through the front of the store while swearing at the staff, one holding a metal bar above his head.
Soon after, the trio returned in a white van and brandished what looked like metal bars before driving off in their vehicle.
A third clip shows the group fleeing in the van.
It is alleged that two men and a woman entered the store on Thompson Road and attempted to leave without paying for a number of items.
Police arrested three individuals — a 24-year-old woman, a 26-year-old man, and a 29-year-old man, all from Cranbourne North — at a house on Arnott Street on Friday before questioning them.
Officers found the white van at a different Cranbourne North property on Thursday.
According to police, the store’s security guards had detained a man but released him after being threatened by the other offenders.
