Monopoly Darwin officially launches at Darwin Waterfront on April 9, 2025

Get excited, Territorians, the Top End is officially on the Monopoly board.

On Wednesday, Monopoly officially launched its Darwin Edition, bringing some of the Top End’s most popular locations into the national spotlight.

From the lush Litchfield National Park to the vibrant Mindil Beach Markets, there’s something on the board everyone will recognise.

The official launch and reveal of Monopoly Darwin will take place from 10am on Wednesday at the Darwin Waterfront.

Jaime-Lee de Niet, a representative from Winning Moves – the creators of the MONOPOLY: Darwin Edition game – said she was excited for the launch.

“Darwin is one of Australia’s most breathtaking cities, known for its stunning rainforests, cascading waterfalls, and vibrant cultural scene,” she said.

“After immersing ourselves in all that makes Darwin one of a kind, we’re thrilled to unveil a game that locals can cherish, and visitors can take home as a special keepsake.

“The first of its kind for the area – we’re especially excited to launch this board.”

The custom Darwin-themed squares and cards:

  • Brown: George Brown Darwin Botanic Gardens, Tiwi Islands
  • Light Blue: Darwin Entertainment Centre, Fannie Bay Goal, Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory
  • Pink: Territory Day, Darwin Street Art Festival, Darwin Golf Club
  • Orange: Kakadu National Park, Deckchair Cinema, Spectacular Jumping Crocodile Cruises
  • Red: Picnic at Cullen Bay, Reidy’s Lures, Casuarina Square
  • Yellow: Pee Wee’s at the Point, Argus Apartments Darwin, Humpty Doo Hotel
  • Green: Darwin International Airport, Mindil Beach Casino Resort, Darwin Waterfront
  • Dark Blue: Mindil Beach, Litchfield National Park
  • Tax: Wet and Dry season
  • Utility: Palmerston Waterpark and Leanyer Recreation Park
  • Travel: City of Darwin, Adelaide River, Arnhem Highway, Stuart Highway

Acting Lord Mayor, Councillor Mick Palmer said it was great to see Darwin featured on the board.

“It’s great to see Darwin featured in such a world-famous and iconic game, giving locals and visitors a chance to celebrate our city in a fun and engaging way,” Mr Palmer said.

“Darwin, and the Top End, are rich in history, culture and natural beauty and it’s fantastic to see some of our iconic landmarks featured, highlighting what makes our region so special.

“Darwin is an incredible place to live, work, and visit and seeing our famous locations on the Monopoly board is a great reminder of why people fall in love with our city.”
