A young man has been rushed to hospital, where he is fighting for his life after being shot multiple times in a rural town.

A 30-year-old man is fighting for his life after being shot multiple times in a rural town in south east Queensland.

Just before 11am on Saturday, police were called to Rocky Gully Road in Coominya, following reports of gunshots in the area.

Police found a 30-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds in the rural town.

He was provided with first aid before being flown to hospital in a serious condition.

Police have established a crime scene at the address and will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Motorists are warned that Rocky Gully Road will be closed to the public as investigations continue.

Queensland Police said there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Anyone with information or CCTV/dashcam footage in the area is urged to contact police.
