Benefitting from an unexpected week off, Innisfail tuned up for the upcoming CDRL finals series with a big win over local rivals Tully. Relive all the action from our LIVESTREAM.

A three-try burst in a key 10-minute period midway through the second half proved decisive as Innisfail sunk the boot further into Tully’s CDRL finals hopes.

The game was evenly poised before Pateresio Vota crossed in the 57th minute for the first of his two tries. Daniel Mooka added another one four minutes later before VBota sealed the deal in the 56th minute.

PREVIEW: Innisfail ready to tackle local rivals

An energised Innisfail will prepare for a finals-quality bout when they host local rivals Tully on Saturday in their return to the field after a surprise week off.

The Leprechauns were left without a game last week after Yarrabah was stood down from all three grades of senior competition.

The week off allowed players to better recover from niggly injuries, and gave the side a healthy boost to its points differential as they chase the minor premiership.

Led by veteran Robert Haren, with consistent CDRL Gold Medal finalist Aaron Jolley and livewire utility Andrew Garrett at fullback and promising backrowers Tomasi Skelton and Jason Hallie, Leps have an outstanding squad searching for a drought-breaking premiership.

But the Leon Hallie-coached team won’t be taking Tully lightly.

The Tigers might be out of finals contention, but they showed in a 28-22 win against fourth-placed Atherton last week that they can still be a handful.

With an exciting array of youngsters, like five-eighth Braithan Ketchell and flyer Abraham Waireg-Ingui complemented by the experience Col Wilkie, Fabien Tauli and Phil Nona, Tully has weapons all over the park.
