Geelong’s Premier women’s teams win six from six in the T20 competition

Geelong’s second grade women’s team had a sensational Sunday, winning both of its T20 matches at Kardinia Park.
In the opening game, Geelong reeled in Prahran’s 5-104 off its 20 overs (Amelie Anderson 2-16) with captain Renee Cox contributing an unbeaten 32 off 23 balls, with support from Abby Wrigglesworth (20) and Clover McIlwaine (18).
In game two, Geelong was 2-73 off 11.4 overs chasing 99 for victory against Box Hill when rain interrupted play.
It capped off six wins from six matches for Geelong’s first, second and third grade teams.
Geelong Cricket Association returns after abandoned opening round
After an abandoned opening round, the Geelong Cricket Association was up and running for season 2025-26 and our photographers were there to capture the action.
And in two featured top tier matches there were sensational hundreds, with Lara’s Vishesh Malhotra blasting a 153-ball, unbeaten 209 with 25 fours and seven sixes against Newtown & Chilwell.
Meanwhile, also in GCA1, Zane Keighran had a brilliant debut innings against East Belmont, hammering 131 off just 53 rocks in a team total of 5-334 off 50 overs.
Sean O’Neill completed a stunning return to the game after taking season 2024-25 off, stroking 103 off 125 balls for the Lions as they compiled 239 in reply.
In GCA2, Leopold won a thriller over Bell Post Hill by four wickets with captain Tom Treble scoring an unbeaten 86.
Meanwhile, in Victorian Premier cricket, Geelong is closing in on its second win from as many games, currently 3-137 chasing 147 for victory at Kardinia Park.
