An anonymous Darwin father has taken home almost $1.7 million in the TattsLotto 4555 drawing, making his dream of owning a home and funding his daughter’s university fees a beautiful reality.

The winning ticket — a 25-game QuickPick — was sold at TSG Karama, Karama Shopping Centre.

Revealed on Saturday, the winning numbers were 3, 27, 30, 15, 16 and 13, while the supplementary numbers were 19 and 33.

The father, who wished to remain anonymous, held one of three division one winning entries nationally and now looks forward to a total prize of $1,695,309.35.

When The Lott confirmed his windfall, he said he was over the moon.

“Thank you. Thank you so much,” he said.

“I couldn’t sleep all weekend. I woke up at 2am because all I could think about was the phone call I was going to receive; I was too excited.”

But he could have very nearly been the millionaire that wasn’t, after almost not buying a ticket at all.

“I had parked outside the local supermarket on Saturday, waiting for TSG Karama to open. I was debating whether I should stick around a little longer to buy a ticket,” he said.

“I am feeling incredibly grateful for waiting around and purchasing the ticket. If I had just drove off, maybe I would’ve never won $1.6 million.

“It wasn’t until Sunday when I went to another newsagency to scan my ticket that they told me that I had won division one.

“The ticket had come up as ‘locked’ and the team members referred me to The Lott. I was speechless.

“I phoned my daughter straight away, and she immediately burst into tears. She cried and cried.”

With a million-dollar fortune about to transform his 2025 plans, the cheerful father shared his plans for the prize, starting with a new home to call his own.

“I’ll be buying a house in Darwin, and then maybe one in Perth too,” he said.

“I’ll then look to pay my daughters university fees; I’m very blessed.”

TSG Karama store manager Carly Aldridge said her team was feeling excited to have sold a division one winning entry.

“The last time we sold a major lottery ticket was in June 2013 worth $570,000,” she said.

“We hope this life-changing prize will be the start of a winning streak for TSG Karama. We can imagine many of our customers will be trying their luck hoping to pick up the next big win.

“The girls at TSG Karama wish our winner all the very best. We’re so very happy for you. Come in one day and let us know all the beautiful things you end up doing with your prize.”
