STAR Gold Coast plans building an overbridge to Pacific Fair and a rooftop entertainment space double the size of its Garden Kitchen and Bar lawn as it realises its $2 billion masterplan.

Star Entertainment Group’s Queensland managing director Geoff Hogg yesterday revealed the fast-tracked fourth building on its Broadbeach Island site would have a giant sixth-floor outdoor entertainment and function space.

The space would link with the under-construction third building – Australia’s first Dorsett hotel – and be available for use before 63-storey fourth tower was completed in 2024.

Mr Hogg said it would be perfect for big Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre groups which might want to hire it for 1000-plus functions.

“We’ll also have an elevated walkway for pedestrians over Hooker Boulevard allowing easier access to the light rail and Pacific Fair shopping centre.”

The fast-tracked plans come despite Star bosses having said expansion will depend on the “competitive environment” going forward.
