The mother of a young woman who suffered an “unexpected” death in Bali has paid tributes, saying her daughter was “someone who lights up the world” and the loss is “hard to fathom”.

Olyvia Cowley, a Palm Beach Currumbin High graduate, passed away in Bali on Friday last week. Mother Christina Blakelock shared the lyrics to ‘You Are the Reason’ by Calum Scott in online tributes to her daughter: “This picture is my world … since I carried them inside me I felt every inch of overwhelm and love. From 18 I experienced the overwhelm of a mother’s love.

“I held all four of you in my arms for two to four years, breastfeeding you and gazing into all of your most precious eyes. Olyvia used to Twinkle my ears, our special thing … she’d never sleep apart from me, I was a mum who didn’t own cots, we slept with our babies, rotating from bed to bed night after night, I wouldn’t change a thing.

“There was nothing else I wanted more than to be a mum, my job was to be a mum, and nothing else mattered.”

Family and friends are now scrambling to bring her body home.

According to Ms Cowley’s TikTok, she quit her job in Australia and moved overseas to Bali in April of this year.

She documented her overseas trip on her social media channels, sharing moments from her travel, as well as popular TikTok dances.

Shortly after landing, the 24-year-old shared a photo compilation video alongside the caption: POV (Point of view): You realise you’re living everything you ever prayed for”.

Close friend Shae Barr set up a GoFundMe page which has raised more than $10,000 towards a $15,000 goal.

On the page Ms Barr asked for “any donations to ease the financial pressure on the family moving forward”.

“The Cowley family are extremely grateful for the overwhelming love and support already. Let’s help this amazing family get through these next phases,” the page read.

Those closest to Ms Cowley took to her Facebook page to post tributes, with one friend, Christina Sissy saying: “Baby I miss U...I can’t breathe”.

The GoFundMe page has already generated over $8,000 in two days. The funding target is $15000. To help the family, click here.
