A worker has died after becoming trapped in a workplace incident on a northern Gold Coast site.
Multiple paramedics treated a male patient for “life-threatening” injuries at the scene on Days Road, Upper Coomera just after 9am on Monday.
The worker had reportedly become trapped between a scissor lift and a ceiling, at the Coomera Anglican College construction site.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) spokesman said two fire crews were able to rescue the man.
He sustained critical, and died at the scene.
Gold Coast district officer Craig Hanlon said the tragic accident was “confronting” for emergency services.
“Our condolences go out to the man’s family and colleagues,” he said.
Supt Hanlon said it was a reminder for workers to “take care” and “slow down” while on the job.
“People don’t go to work to lose their lives,” he said.
“It’s not about getting the job done quickest but getting it done safely.
“We want people to return home (after work).”
Workplace investigators attended the Upper Coomera worksite following the incident and were working to determine what had occurred.
It’s the second workplace death within a month after a 30-year-old man died during an incident at KC Linen warehouse.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on Darlington Drive in Yatala around 2.45am on June 18.
He died at the scene.
Police confirmed the death was being treated as non-suspicious.
