Queensland Ambulance Services Operations Manager Jayney Shearman said members of the public had performed CPR on the woman before help arrived.

“They commenced CPR for about 3-4 minutes before the surf lifesaving club members came down to assist,” she said.

“Shortly after that Queensland Ambulance arrived with a rapid response with high acuity care officers and a critical care paramedic, along with an advanced care paramedic crew.”

The woman was treated at the scene before being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition with Critical Care Paramedic and High Acuity Response Unit on board.
