Distinctly cool mornings are set for the Gold Coast this week as the weather is predicted to take a turn.
Bureau of Meteorology Senior meteorologist Felim Hanniffy said a cool change could be expected to creep through Sunday afternoon and evening with the chance of isolated showers and a “rumble of thunder”.
“Monday will bring gusty westerlies with the temperature for the Coast feeling much cooler on account of those winds,” Mr Hanniffy said.
While the top temperature for the Gold Coast on Monday is predicted to be 22 degrees, Mr Hanniffy said residents can expect it to feel “more in the mid to high teens”.
“The coldest morning for the Gold Coast will probably come on Tuesday morning down into single figures, we’re predicting eight degrees with temperatures dropping even lower to three degrees towards the scenic rim.”
Burleigh Point resident Dave Frank said the cool drop wouldn’t hold him back from diving in for a surf.
“It’s s a killer but we still try to swim every day – we’re surfers so it’s liquid therapy.
“The conditions at the weekend were perfect and mellow.
“The beach was nice and quiet which was good for us – Burleigh has been so crowded lately so really good to enjoy the change.”
