This year, there is no shortage of things to do over the long Easter weekend with everyone from local clubs to major Gold Coast tourist attractions pulling out all the stops.
For Burleigh mum Perii Campbell, Easter on the Gold Coast is a time for both family and enjoying the “magic” of the holiday through her kids’ eyes.
“I’ve got a two and three year old and we’re just so excited for the kids,” Ms Campbell said.
“We’re excited to live their childhood, to experience the magic of Easter and really relive our childhood with them.”
Ms Campbell said this year the family will be spending Easter Sunday at Club Burleigh.
Assistant manager Terina Clow said Club Burleigh’s Easter Eggstravaganza has been a local favourite, especially among families.
“We always try to make it fun for the kids, but we also have Easter goodies for everyone,” Ms Clow added.
“We’ll have the Easter hunt for the kids and the hamper raffles, but we also have live music and Easter-themed cocktails for the adults.”
Ms Clow said proceeds from the hamper raffle will be donated to Elanora-based The Sanctuary Women, Children and Pet’s Refuge.
Meanwhile, around 8000 people are expected to visit Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary over the four-day holiday, with Easter icon the Bilby to take the spotlight.
The Sanctuary’s resident bilbies Fern, Bilbina, Ginny and Luna will also be celebrating the holiday long weekend, with wildlife experts urging Australians to support the endangered species by purchasing a chocolate Bilby.
If you’re not up for getting close and cuddly with furry creatures, the Imperial Hotel at Main Beach is celebrating an Alice in Wonderland themed Easter high-tea complete with a towering replica of the White Rabbit made completely from Valrhona chocolate.
Imperial Hotel’s Il Barocco will also host an Easter Sunday lunch seafood buffet.
