Wayward Water Dragon lizard sparks fire crew rescue operation at Southport

FIRE crews have been known to rescue kittens stuck in trees, but a wayward lizard on a second story ledge is taking things to a whole new level...

AN adventurous lizard trapped on a second storey ledge in Southport has sparked an emergency services rescue operation this afternoon.

The RSPCA called firefighters to a building on the corner of Johnston and High Streets to rescue the Water Dragon reportedly caught on an outside ledge just before 1.30pm.

Crews reportedly used a stick to herd the creature which jumped into the nets of wildlife officers.

The lizard was unharmed and was successfully released into the wild.
