Video: Fiery inferno erupts on M1 after two car crash near Burleigh Heads, Gold Coast

Two people have been hospitalised following a fiery crash which blocked the M1 overnight. SEE THE VIDEO.

A FIERY crash on the M1 overnight has caused traffic delays, with members of the public stepping in to keep drivers safe.

A car and van collided in the southbound lanes of the M1 near the Bermuda St offramp at Burleigh Heads around 10.40pm on Saturday.

The crash sparked a large fire which fully engulfed the van.

Miraculously both of the drivers only suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Both men, aged 26 and 36, were both taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Video of the astonishing blaze shows other motorists bravely blocking the road to stop cars from driving past the inferno.

A police spokesman said the road was blocked for some time as crews worked to make the scene safe.

Witnesses told the Bulletin the “scary” accident had traffic backed up to Mudgeeraba.
