Investigations are continuing after a fire destroyed two cars and a motorbike at a Gold Coast home on Wednesday.
The blaze, in the carport of a Sherman Drive, Upper Coomera property, closed the suburban street for hours on January 22 from 2.30pm.
A Queensland Fire Department spokeswoman said the cars and carport were fully engulfed in flames when two fire crews arrived at the scene at 2.39pm.
Parts of the outside of the house were also affected by the raging blaze, which threw a thick cloud of black smoke into the sky and forced authorities to temporarily close the street.
Concerns from neighbours that a disabled woman might have been trapped inside the property prompted police to break down the front door.
It was later confirmed that the house was cleared, with no injuries reported.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said investigations were continuing into the cause of the incident.
“Emergency services were called just before 2.30pm to reports two cars were on fire,” the spokesperson said.
“Police declared a crime scene at approximately 3.20pm to determine the cause of the fire.”
A QFD spokesman said the fire was not being treated as suspicious, although the fire investigation unit was continuing to work alongside police.
He said the fire started in a motorbike parked in the carport, then spread to two other cars parked in the same carport.
The fire destroyed the motorbike and the cars, and caused some smoke damage to the adjoining house.
The cause was likely accidental, a QFD spokeswoman said.
Police are appealing for anyone with vision from the scene to come forward.
