Two e-scooter accidents have unfolded in Surfers Paradise within two hours of each other - one fatal along the Esplanade and another non-fatal just a block away.
Emergency services were called to the Esplanade at Trickett Street at 3.30pm after a woman’s scooter and a BMW collided, shattering its windscreen. The woman, 30, sadly passed away after being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.
Two hours after that fatal crash, Surfers Paradise resident Steve Moody said he collided with a Maxi Taxi in a separate accident at around 5.30pm.
Mr Moody could be heard yelling in Hanlan Street where traffic from the Esplanade was being directed away from the earlier horror crash scene.
Commenting on the collision between his scooter and the taxi, Mr Moody said: “There’s all the traffic build up because of the (other) scooter accident.”
The Bulletin witnessed Mr Moody on the phone to police reporting his crash, and neither driver is accused of wrongdoing.
A Queensland Police Spokesperson confirmed the incident had been reported, but they were yet to reach the scene.
