The 15-year-old son of the truck driver who tragically died in a rollover on the Gold Coast, has shared a heartbreaking tribute to his “amazing” dad.

At around 9.40am on Wednesday, Brisbane father Mark Campbell, also known as ‘the pirate’, lost his life in a horror crash after his truck rolled on Beechmont Rd in Witheren.

It was understood Mr Campbell was driving along Beechmont Rd, near Rhoades Rd when the truck veered off the road and was left upside down in an embankment.

His 15-year-old son Torin Campbell said he was lost for words after the Easter holiday tragedy.

“I have not just lost my father but I have lost my life,” he said.

“Mark Campbell was his name, he was an amazing man and did not deserve this.

“We have no clue what to say.”

Friends and former colleagues of Mr Campbell said he was a “great bloke” who would be dearly missed.

“I still can’t believe that I got a phone call to say you have passed, you were like a bloody second father to me,” Nick Oppatt said.

“One of the best blokes I’ve ever worked beside.

“I only wish that you had of come back to work with me earlier. Then I may not have to be writing this.

“Jay and Torin, that man loved you guys so much, he used to talk and talk about you.

“Mark you really were a bloody good man and please know we will all help your family get through this terrible time.

“Going to miss you mate. Fly high champion.”
