ONE of the Gold Coast’s most popular walking tracks by the beach is up and running again.
The State Government has announced the much anticipated upgrades to the popular Tallebudgera Creek Conservation Park walking track were completed today.
GOLD COAST’S NEXT TOURIST ATTRACTION
Environment Minister Leeanne Enoch said the repair work would be completed just in time for this long weekend which was the perfect opportunity for Queenslanders to test out these upgrades.
While the initial 500m section of boardwalk below David Fleay Wildlife Park was open, the rest of the track had been closed due to landslides.
Ms Enoch said Queensland’s plan for economic recovery included encouraging nature-based tourism.
“Queensland is Good to Go and I encourage everyone to discover some of our National Park’s
wonderful wildlife and environment through walking trails like at the Tallebudgera Creek
Conservation Park,” she said.
POPULATION SET TO EXPLODE ON NORTHERN GOLD COAST
“Upgrades to this popular walking track were based on findings of a geotechnical assessment of the landslip site which resulted in the temporary closure of the trail.
“Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service Rangers undertook the repair works which involved the removal of an undermined stairway, re-profiling the gradient of the damaged track, reinstatement of steps and installation of rock retaining structures on the track edges.”
