Suspect device found in police raid closes streets, road in Nerang

The bomb squad have been called to deal with a ‘suspicious device’ found during a police raid of a Gold Coast home.

The police bomb squad were called in and several streets locked down after a “suspicious device” was discovered during a police raid on Friday.

Police found the device during a search of a Nerang address around 9am.

An emergency declaration was made under the Public Safety Preservation Act at 11am.

The exclusion zone included New St, Cayuga St, Miskin St to Kotara St and across to Gilston Rd.

A Queensland Police spokesperson said its explosives ordinance response team was called to the scene to deal with the device.

The emergency declaration was revoked around noon.

Investigations are continuing.
