THE biggest fashion faux-pas you can commit at the polo? Dressing like it’s race day.
The dress code for the Pacfic Fair Magic Millions Polo is a far cry from the fascinators and high heels of the Melbourne Cup. Pacfic Fair style ambassador Violet Atkinson advised guests at the event to “think summer” when choosing their outfit.
“Because of the weather you want to be wearing something floaty and breathable, your linens, your silks,” she said.
“If you want to play with some colour, consider some nice prints, you can also do some pastels so your light blues, your pinks if you’re not too adventurous in the colour department.

“Probably the most important thing is to make sure you differentiate between the races and the polo. No fascinators. Go for your headscarves, wide-brimmed hats.
“And with your footwear you want to be practical so a block heel, even just a sneaker, a mule, something like that.”
And the men aren’t being left out either, with Ms Atkinson saying they should start experimenting with different colours to stand out from the crowd.
“Because it’s a day event it’s important to differentiate from your typical evening look,” she said.
“A really nice linen button down, could be even a short sleeve tucked into some chino shorts. Steer clear of ties and bow ties and keep it really casual.”
