A BUSY Burleigh brunch spot has relocated to a serene suburban haven before the light rail destroys it.
Stones Throw cafe has opened a “bigger and better venue” in Currumbin Valley because southern light rail construction is set to demolish its Gold Coast Highway site this year.
Co-owners Cameron Chartres and Melanie Windsor said the forced closure was “heartbreaking but also a great opportunity”.
“We are really mad,” Mr Chartres said. “There has been no communication or compensation.
“But we are excited and our new venue is a hit.”
The Station Street cafe opened on Thursday and encourages customers to throw down a picnic rug in the backyard surrounded by fruit trees, a caravan cubbyhouse and sandpit.
