Southport Nerang Road Ashmore: Motorbike rider in hospital after close call with ute

A man has been taken to hospital after his motorbike became lodged under a ute on a busy Gold Coast road during rush hour. Here’s the latest.

A man is in hospital after his motorbike became lodged underneath the bumper of a ute.

Police were called to Southport Nerang Rd, Ashmore, at 5pm on Wednesday afternoon following a collision involving the bike, ute and another vehicle.

A Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokesperson confirmed the rider was “conscious and breathing” when authorities arrived.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services also attended the scene, with a spokeswoman confirming nobody was trapped at the scene.

The rider was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital by Queensland Ambulance Service in a stable condition.

Police remain on-scene to assist with traffic control, but the QPS spokeswoman confirmed the road was almost cleared as of 6pm.
