Southport fire: Residents flee second Gold Coast building blaze

A fire has broken out in a second Gold Coast building, just hours after hundreds of residents were forced to flee Surfers Paradise supertower the Q1.

A fire has broken out in a second Gold Coast building, just hours after hundreds of residents were forced to flee Surfers Paradise supertower the Q1.

Residents were forced to evacuate an address in Walton St, Southport about 12.50pm Monday after a fire was reported in the building’s second level.

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the fire was extinguished around 1pm.

Fire crews, paramedics and police were called to the scene.
