POLICE have not yet tracked down a driver involved in a Gold Coast school bus hit-and-run.

Emergency services including Gold Coast police, were called to Burleigh St at Burleigh Waters about 3.30pm on Wednesday after the car ran into the side of the bus.

The vehicle – believed to have been bearing New South Wales number plates – then crashed into a brick wall before it was driven from the area.

Officers had not made any arrests in relation to the hit-and-run by midday on Thursday, a spokeswoman said.

Car smashes into school bus in Coast hit-and-run

September 1: Emergency services have rushed to a reported hit-and-run involving a school bus in Burleigh Waters.

A police spokesman said a silver car crashed into the side of a school bus on Burleigh St, then a brick wall before it drove from the scene about 3.30pm.

Police are searching for the car, which possibly has NSW licence plates.

It’s not believed anyone was seriously injured in the incident.

Earlier: Man rescued after car plunges over Coast cliff

UPDATE 1.45PM: A man has been rescued after his car went over a cliff on the Gold Coast.

Emergency services rushed to Currumbin Creek Rd at Currumbin Valley when the incident was reported about 12.30pm.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesman said a man in his 20s, understood to be the only occupant in the car, was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

INITIAL 1.20PM: Emergency services have been tasked to a rural suburb of the Gold Coast after it was reported a car careened off a cliff.

Gold Coast police, Queensland Ambulance Service and Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) were called to Currumbin Creek Rd at Currumbin Valley about 12.30pm.

QFES had four crews travelling for an expected “vertical rescue”, a spokeswoman said.

Earlier this year, in June, emergency services managed to save a woman who was found clinging to a cliff face after a crash at Wongawallan.
