GOLD Coasters have awoken to a stunning sunrise this morning as smoke plumes over the city.
The smoky conditions have been caused by a bushfire burning in the Gold Coast hinterland since yesterday afternoon.
Located at Sarabah, south of Canungra, the fire is burning between Lamington National Park Road, Toe Holt Road, Sarabah Road and Rowe Road.
Two firefighting crews were on scene as of 6.45am, working to control the blaze, according to a spokeswoman from Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES).
No properties were at risk.
The fire, which has been burning in inaccessible areas, was still within containment lines.
Firefighters have been conducting backburning operations in the area, including along Saddleback Ridge.
Residents of Sarabah, Tamborine Mountain and Canungra will be particularly affected by the smoky conditions.
