Shock video of dad’s gross find in chocolate egg purchased from Gold Coast discount store

A dad has captured video of his shocking find inside a chocolate egg purchased from a popular Gold Coast store. WATCH THE VIDEO

A dad has described the disgusting moment he allegedly found worms inside a chocolate egg purchased for his daughter from a Gold Coast store.

North Brisbane man Clive Henare said he bought the treat for his seven-year-old from Choice The Discount Store Upper Coomera around noon Tuesday.

Mr Henare’s daughter had eaten half the egg when she yelled out for her dad while screaming and crying.

“She was in hysterics, sobbing with saliva running down her chin,” he said.

“I grabbed the egg and inspected it. I noticed one worm coming out of the chocolate.

“I was in shock. Then I noticed a second worm come out of the chocolate, which gave me a fright.”

In a video Mr Henare captured, he can be heard asking his daughter “you alright?”

“No, I feel like I ate a worm,” the distressed girl responded.

The Brisbane dad said the alleged incident had left them both disgusted.

“I then grabbed the chocolate and threw it out the window as my girl was terrified of the idea that she thinks she would have eaten bugs and they are inside her,” Mr Henare said.

The dad said he went back to the store that afternoon to explain the situation to staff, who apologised and gave him a refund.

A Choice the Discount Store spokesman said it was made aware of the issue by the customer.

“We refunded the item, we removed the item from show and checked that it was in date until (May) next year,” he said.

“We advised the supplier of the issue. The supplier has raised the issue with their supplier/manufacturer.”

Mr Henare called for the store to pull the product from its shelves.

“I don’t care about the refund, I just hope it doesn’t happen to other kids,” he said.
